LEARNING AIMS:
A. Explore the components of storyboards and how they are used.
B. Produce a storyboard for a specified media product
ASSIGNMENT TITLE:
Create a storyboard for an animated film trailer.
VOCATIONAL SCENARIO OR CONTEXT
Blue Fox Toons, a local animation company has released a
competition for students aged 14-18 year olds. They have asked young people to
create a film idea for a new animation film aimed to appeal to a family
audience. They have asked that entrants create and submit a 15 frame
storyboard of their original animated idea.
You will develop
your understanding of the animation genre, research animated films to generate
and plan your own animated film idea, understand the different types of
storyboards and their uses and then finally produce a 15 frame storyboard
sequence, with annotation, which explains your ideas for both visual and audio
content.
TASK 1: To develop an understanding of what a storyboard
is, the types of storyboards available, their components and their uses.
CHECKLIST OF EVIDENCE REQUIRED:
- Worksheet - Definition of what a storyboard is and key terms.
- Mind map - different types of visual media that require a storyboard.
- Match up activity worksheet - Identify types of storyboard
- Presentation – definition and outline the roles of a director, cinematographer and camera operator with examples.
- Camera shot quiz and match up activity - identify the name and purpose of different camera shots and angles.
- Cloze activity - different edits and transitions.
- Sound worksheet - Identify and explain the use of diegetic and non-diegetic in film clips.
- Script to screen drawing activity.
- Typography worksheet - Analyse the use of typography and effect on audiences.
- Create their own ident using appropriate typography.
